On September 30, 2024, UMBO Innovations proudly introduced the My Hero Doll at the Military Influencer Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Created by Matt and Jaclyn Miller of San Diego, California, the Mommy and Daddy Hero dolls are designed to help families stay connected during times of separation. Inspired by their personal experiences as a military family, the Millers developed the doll to provide comfort and connection for families navigating the challenges of military life.
Unfortunately, Matt and Jaclyn were unable to attend the launch due to their commitments. Matt is currently in Department Head School for the Navy in Newport, Rhode Island, and Jaclyn is dedicated to serving 146,000 active-duty service members, including the 600 to 1,000 new Marines she supports weekly at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in San Diego.
In their absence, Matt’s parents, Chris and Nancy Miller, graciously stepped in, making the seven-hour journey from their home in Sarasota, Florida, to represent the family and their shared vision. Their heartfelt presentation of the My Hero Doll resonated deeply with the audience. So much so that Joel Del Rosario, upon hearing their story and seeing the doll, invited Chris and Nancy on stage to introduce My Hero to everyone. It was a truly unforgettable moment that marked a milestone in UMBO Innovations’ mission to support military families.
