My Hero is not just a doll. It's a bridge. It's a connection. It's your voice. It's a Recordable Doll for Military Families to keep connections while your away. It's for Deployment. It's for Duty. It's for short and long periods at sea. It's for whenever you need it.
We didn't set out to create the latest and greated Daddy Doll or Mommy Doll. This whole project started with a book. My son and I wrote The Adventures of Benny Backwards. My son, Mason, was learning to dress himself and would often put his clothes on backwards. It became a bit of an ongoing joke, so we started calling him the Backwards Man. We sang songs, came up with stories, and he got a kick out of it. While I was on shore duty, we wrote a book loosely based on the concepts Mason came up with. He has a few sequels in mind that are really good, and eventually, I'll get back to them.
I wrote that book never expecting anyone to read it. Who am I? I'm not an author; I'm in the Navy. I've always been creative, but words are not my greatest strength. So what? We thought it was pretty good. I decided to donate it to a buddy of mine from the USS Theodore Roosevelt, whom I served with. It ended up becoming a top seller on Amazon for a few days, and we made some money for my friend's son, Cannon. Cannon is a true hero. I'm determined to help this kid out. His parents are my heroes because I like to complain, and I have nothing to complain about. I can't imagine how they find the strength to deal with a three-year-old with stage four cancer. I guess we all put one foot in front of the other, but I just can't fathom it... This kid is in the fight of his life, and what a blessing he is to the world.
Please consider picking up a copy of the book. To be honest, creating MY HERO took a lot longer than expected, and I was hoping to get funds to that family much sooner.
Fast forward, and after a few books, my wife and I remembered something we did with our youngest, Mason, when he was only one month old.
To be continued.
